Krishna Janmashtami Images with Wishes and Quotes 2022 - On this auspicious day of Janamashtami Lord Krishna was born. This year Janamashtami will be celebrated on 18th August 2022. It is celebrated every year in India. The celebrations start on the previous night awaiting for the midnight as Lord Krishna was born at midnight.
The celebrations continue till the next day as people love to participate and watch the 'Dahi Handi' festival. It is also known as the 'Gopalkala festival'. In this festival a pyramid is formed by people standing on top of each other reaching for the the 'Handi' on top which contains ' Dahi' in it.
The Dahi handi festival is celebrated because, when Lord Krishna was a kid he was a very mischievous kid, he along with his friends in 'Gokul' used to steal yoghurt from the pots that were tied on top of the roofs in earthen pots and eat. A pyramid was formed by them by standing on top of each other to break the pots and steel yoghurt. Hence, the name came 'Dahi Handi'.
'Dahi' means yoghurt and 'Handi' means an earthen pot. In 'Handi' festival 2022 celebration competitions are held and people form groups and participate in this festival. It is a very popular festival in Mumbai.
In such competitions world famous groups like 'Jai Jawan Govida Pathak' has even made world record of longest pyramid of 43.79 feet. They also received certificate from the ' World Book of Guinness Record'.
However, the Government has been strict about these competitions and laid many impositions. Only 20 feet pyramid can be formed and no person below 12 years can participate in these competitions as per Government rules.
During the celebrations of Janamashtami people sing and dance to the songs and prayers of Lord Krishna. Let us all celebrate birth of Shri Krishna wishing and celebrating happiness.
